What's On Our Mind

JAC was honored recently to be joined on our zoom calls by Reps. Jason Crow (D-CO) and Elissa Slotkin (D-MI). They were front and center during the January 6th attack on the Capitol.

“We will not be intimidated, we will not be beaten, and we will stand up and be strong. Those people who tried to derail our democracy failed, and they will always fail. We will fight back,” Jason said. His home state has already sent a QAnon supporter to Congress.

Nothing will ever be the same in our country since the attack. This new challenging time calls for strong, brave leaders in Congress, like Jason and Elissa. They understand the domestic threats facing the country and the need to take action.

Domestic terrorism poses an even greater threat to the Jewish community. “Make no mistake, we as Jews are less safe now than we were four years ago,” Elissa said. There is already a GOP candidate that wants to run against her who supports Proud Boys and describes himself as a “western chauvinist.”

As anti-Semitism rises across the country, Elissa is working to pass legislation to mandate Holocaust education. She introduced legislation to create a Department of Education grant program to support K-12 digital citizenship and media literacy education.

Jason and Elissa faced hostile and dangerous enemies abroad, but they never expected to be facing enemies at home — and especially in our sacred Capitol. Jason served three tours in the Middle East as an Army Ranger. Elissa, in her role at the CIA, worked alongside the U.S. military as a militia expert during three tours in Iraq.

We need Jason and Elissa in Congress to continue to work to protect the Jewish community and the values that make our democracy unique. Their mission has only just begun.
