JAC Statement on 2021 Iron Dome Funding

The passage today of legislation that authorizes the transfer of $1 billion to Israel to resupply its Iron Dome missile defense system signals the U.S. commitment to strengthening Israel’s defense and furthering the U.S.-Israel relationship.

We were very concerned that the funding was eliminated from the continuing budget resolution and was used as a political bargaining chip by a select group of Members of Congress. This is counterproductive to our strategic interest in the Mideast, as well.

The Iron Dome is critical to Israel's defense. The system has saved countless numbers of lives and prevented substantial loss of property. It has also served as an important deterrent in escalating conflict.

As our strongest democratic ally in the Mideast, it is incumbent on Congress to ensure that Israel can maintain its qualitative military edge and is able to successfully defend itself from missile attacks on civilian populations.

We applaud all JAC-supported Members of Congress that stood up for Israel. At JAC we will continue to work in a meaningful way to ensure that the bond between our two countries remains unshakeable by electing candidates that share this goal.
