Candidates for U.S. Senate

Senator Doug Jones
D-AL

Doug Jones is committed to ensuring Israel’s safety and security, and has promised to work to strengthen the U.S.-Israel relationship. He understands the importance of Israel as a democracy in the Middle East. He supports a woman’s right to choose, and has fought to increase access to affordable health care for all. Prior to working in the Senate, Doug was appointed by President Bill Clinton to the position of United States Attorney for the Northern District of Alabama, where he worked tirelessly to make Alabama a better place. Mark Kelly
D-AZ
Mark Kelly is a former astronaut and Captain in U.S. Navy, as well as husband to former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords. He is a strong proponent of JAC's issues, including reproductive rights and gun violence prevention. Following the attack on Rep. Giffords by a constituent, the two founded the Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence, and are committed to achieving gunsense in America. Click here to learn more about Mark Kelly.

 

 
John Hickenlooper
D-CO
Former Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper is running for the U.S. Senate for Colorado. A former geologist and brewer, he owned a small pub in Denver. As governor, he helped Colorado grow from 40th in the nation in job creation to the top economy in the country. He is running to bring people together to lower health care cost and prescription costs, keep families safe from gun violence, and combat climate change. He is a strong defender of JAC's issues. Senator Chris Coons
D-DE

Chris Coons supports a woman’s right to control her own body and make her own health care decisions, and has earned a 100 percent pro-choice rating from NARAL. He has pushed relentlessly for common sense gun safety legislation in the Senate, in an effort to keep American communities safe. Chris prides himself on his commitment to bipartisanship in the U.S. Senate, and was ranked by GovTrack in the top three most productive Senators of both parties. Jon Ossoff
D-GA
Jon Ossoff is running in his second bid to represent Georgia in Washington D.C. In 2016, he came close to winning GA-6's special election, and has now won the Georgia primary for the 2020 Senate race. A former national security staffer and aide to Rep. Hank Johnson, he is also CEO of an investigative journalism company focused on corrupt officials and organized crime. Theresa Greenfield
D-IA
Running to unseat anti-choice GOP Sen. Joni Ernst, Theresa Greenfield will protect JAC's issues in the Senate. Growing up on a farm in Iowa, she is no stranger to hard work. She later worked multiple jobs to put herself through college. She believes that health care is a human right, that it is time for the economy to work for the people, women have a constitutional right to make their own health care decisions, and that we cannot wait any longer to address climate change. Senator Dick Durbin
D-IL
A longtime friend of JAC, Dick Durbin has a long record of supporting all of JAC’s issues. He supports a strong U.S.-Israel relationship, and has demonstrated unwavering support for the welfare of Israel as a Jewish and democratic state. He has earned a 100 percent pro-choice rating from NARAL Pro-Choice America, and has been a leader in the fight to protect women’s rights. Amy McGrath
Candidate D-KY
Amy McGrath is running to defeat current incumbent Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. Following law school, she joined the Naval Academy and was commissioned as a Marine Corps officer, where she served for 20 years. She flew 89 combat missions in Iraq and Afghanistan, and became the first woman Marine to fly a combat mission in an F/A-18. She also served as a Conggressional Fellow, then served as the Marine Corps' liaison to the State Department and other federal agencies. Sara Gideon
D-ME
Sara Gideon is the Speaker of the Maine House of Representatives and is running for the U.S. Senate against Sen. Susan Collins. She is a strong supporter of JAC's issues, including women's reproductive rights, leading the fight in Maine to make sure women remain control of their health care decisions. She is running for the Senate because she believes too many politicians are focused more on special interests than the interests of the people they're supposed to represent.

 

Senator Ed Markey
D-MA
Senator Markey has been a good friend of JAC, and is a strong supporter of our issues in his Senate term and 37 years in the House of Representatives. He has earned a 100 percent pro choice rating from NARAL Pro-Choice America, and co-sponsored a bill to prohibit for-profit employers from using religious beliefs to deny employees coverage of contraception or any other vital health services. Senator Tina Smith
D-MN
Tina Smith was appointed to fill out the term of former Sen. Al Franken. She is focused on continuing the progressive legacy of the seat she holds. Prior to being appointed to the Senate, Tina served as the Lieutenant Governor of Minnesota. She was named one of the top 25 most influential women in state politics by CQ-RollCall. Senator Gary Peters
D-MI
Senator Peters has long supported all of JAC’s issues. He led a bipartisan coalition urging the President to continue U.S. support of Israel in 2010, and signed a Congressional letter to President Obama explaining the necessity of a strong U.S.-Israel relationship. He helped Planned Parenthood open a new office in his district, and has earned a 100 percent pro choice rating from NARAL. He has worked with representatives across party lines to fight for families, small businesses, good paying jobs, affordable health care, and many other crucial issues facing society today. Steve Bullock
D-MT
Former Montana Governor Steve Bullock is running for the U.S. Senate for the seat of first-term GOP Sen. Steve Daines. He was a two term governor of Montana. Prior to entering public office, he worked as a consumer protection, small business, and labor lawyer. He was elected Attorney Governor and brought the first legal challenge to Citizens United all the way to the Supreme Court. He is a strong defender of women's reproductive rights, supports all of JAC's issues and will be a strong ally in the Senate.

A life-long North Carolinian, Cal Cunningham is running to unseat Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC). A veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan, he was elected to NC Senate as one of the youngest lawmakers in state history. He is a strong proponent of women's reproductive rights, addressing gun violence prevention, protecting and expanding voting rights, and addressing climate change. He helps lead a nationally-recognized environmental services and waste reduction company. He is a strong advocate for JAC's issues and will be a strong ally in the Senate. Senator Jeanne Shaheen
D-NH
Jeanne Shaheen is a fierce supporter of women’s reproductive rights, and has earned a 100 percent pro-choice rating from NARAL, as well as recieved an endorsement from EMILY’s list. She has led bipartisan efforts in Congress to permanently repeal the Global Gag Rule, and strongly believes in a woman’s right to choose. Senator Cory Booker
D-NJ
Cory Booker is a longtime friend of JAC who is committed to supporting Israel as our strongest ally in the Middle East, and as a homeland for the Jewish people. Booker earned a 100 percent pro-choice rating from NARAL Pro-Choice America; he supports increased funding for women’s health services and fiercely believes in a woman’s right to choose. Before he was elected to the Senate, Booker fought for the American people as a tenant lawyer, a city councilman, and as mayor; he is continuing this fight in the U.S. Senate. Rep. Ben Ray Lujan
NM-3
Rep. Ben Ray Lujan Jr. was raised on a family-owned farm in New Mexico, teaching him the value of natural resources and instilling in him a drive to fight against climate change.  Ben is also a strong supporter of Israel and staunchly pro-choice, receiving 100% ratings from both Planned Parenthood and NARAL. In 2011, he founded the bipartisan Technology Transfer Caucus to bring together members who shared his goal of strengthening the American economy through moving technological innovation to the marketplace. Senator Jeff Merkley
D-OR
Senator Merkley is committed to protecting the health, rights and liberties of all women. He has fought for a woman’s right to choose, and has continually stood up against efforts that allow the government to make personal health care decisions for a woman. Senator Merkley supports Israel as an ally in the Middle East, and co-sponsored a bill announcing Israel as a major strategic partner of the United States. Merkley began his career in public service at the age of 19, interning for former Senator Mark Hatfield. Today, he holds his former boss’ Senate seat. Senator Jack Reed
D-RI
Senator Reed is a strong supporter of all of JAC’s issues. He vigorously supports the welfare, security and survival of the state of Israel, and encourages the cooperation between the U.S. and Israel for energy research and development. He supports a woman’s right to choose, and has earned a 100 percent pro-choice rating from NARAL. Reed has fought for Americans long before he began his 22 years in the Senate. Senator Mark Warner
D-VA
Senator Warner is a champion of women’s reproductive rights and has sponsored legislation to repeal the global gag rule. He is rated 100 percent pro-choice by both NARAL and Planned Parenthood, and vigirously supports a woman’s right to choose. Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick

Representative Ann Kirkpatrick is proudly pro-choice and has always been an advocate for enduring all women have access to the healthcare they need. Responsible gun ownership is a part of Ann’s heritage; despite being a gun owner herself, Ann believes in common-sense gun laws, and has cosponsored legislation to strengthen background checks and prevent guns from getting into the hands of criminals and the mentally ill. Rep. Greg Stanton
AZ-9
Rep. Greg Stanton is the former Mayor of Phoenix who spent his term forging better relationships with Israel and women. He traveled to Israel multiple times and forged an economic partnership between Israel and Phoenix that has led to 13 years of economic and cultural exchange. Domestically, he has worked closely with women to help better their access to reproductive and healthcare services. Rep. Ami Bera
CA-7
Rep. Ami Bera has spent over two decades in the medical field, so he understands that a woman' health decisions shoul dbe between her and her doctor. He stands with Planned Parenthood's important role in providing health care to women. His position on the Foreign Affairs committee allows him to play an integral rol in strengthening our relationship with Israel. Rep. Josh Harder
CA-10
Rep. Josh Harder was elected to Congress in 2018 by defeating incumbent GOP Rep. Jeff Denham, one of 7  Congressional freshmen to flip their districts blue. He is a fierce advocate of a woman's access to reproductive health, supports a two-state solution in the Middle East, want to reduce gun violence, and supports JAC's issues. Rep. Jackie Speier

Rep. Jackie Speier began her congressional career working for Rep. Leo Ryan.  Ryan, Speier and other staff traveled to Jonestown, Guyana to rescue constituent victims of the cult run by Jim Jones. Speier was shot 5 times in the attack and Ryan was killed; she decided while recovering in the hospital the best way to be a survivor was to work for the people, so she ran for Ryan's open seat and won. Jackie has been a passionate advocate for JAC issues throughout her career, being both strongly pro-choice and a strong supporter of a committed US-Israel Relationship. Rep. Eric Swalwell

Eric Swalell is seeking reelection in order to continue to fight for common sense gun legislation. He understands the need for immediate change, and has cosponsored over a dozen gun violence prevention bills in the last three Congressional sessions. Along with his commitment to protecting the people from gun violence, he is also committed to protecting women’s reproductive rights. He consistently introduces legislation aimed to improve women’s access to abortions, contraceptives, and equal pay. Representative Julia Brownley began her career in government because she wanted to help children and families receive better resources in local schools; for the past 15 years, Julia has been a powerful advocate for people both in and out of her home state of California.  Julia is strongly pro-choice and has been one of Congress’s foremost advocates for women. Representative Adam Schiff has been a democratic leader in Congress for nearly 20 years. Adam is a key advocate for JAC issues, supporting Israel and fighting for women’s reproductive rights. Linda Sanchez has been a champion of JAC’s ideas in Congress for over a decade. She has consistently voted down legislation that is harmful to both Israel and women’s reproductive rights. Representative and former emergency room doctor, Raul Ruiz began his career in advocacy by starting a pre-medical mentorship program in the Coachella Valley due to a physician shortage in the region.  After the program created a lasting impact, Raul knew he could make a change in Congress. Representative Katie Porter spent nearly 20 years fighting powerful special interests and Wall Street banks on behalf of consumers and families. A national leader in consumer protection, she has won big victories against financial institutions who cheat consumers. She was one of the first to sound the alarm prior to the housing bubble burst. She served under CA Attorney General Kamala Harris as CA's bank watchdog. She is a fierce advocate of JAC's issues and committed to making Congress work for the people.

Rep. Harley Rouda was elected to represent California's 48th district in 2018. He worked helping to grow small and large businesses, and helped to create and support thousands of jobs.He and his family have long been involved in charitable and advocacy projects to help the homeless, protect victims of domestic violence, prevent gun violence, strengthen human rights, and protect our environment. He is a strong supporter of JAC's issues.

 

Rep. Mike Levin

Representative Mike Levin vows to fight for women’s rights. He promises to defend Planned Parenthood and a woman’s right to choose. He is committed to solving the gun violence epidemic and supports the assault weapon ban and expanding Brady background checks. Representative Diana DeGette is seeking reelection to serve her 13th term in the U.S. House of Representatives. Throughout her long career in the House, she has been a strong supporter of Israel and the two-state solution. She has been adamant in her support for women's reproductive rights and has always spoken out against the anti-choice agenda in Washington, DC. Diane Mitsch Bush

Diane Mitsch Bush is a former CO State Representative who routinely reached across the aisle to improve the lives of people in her community. She has stood up to oil and gas lobbyists, sponsoring legislation to protect our environment and keep polluters accountable. She also worked to authorize same-day voter registration to ensure that our democracy is accessible to all. She is running against a QAnon supporter who endorses right wing conspiracy theories. Rep. Jason Crow

Representative Jason Crow served in the Army's 82nd Airborne Division, where he led a platoon of paratroopers during the invasion of Iraq and earned the Bronze Star for his combat actions. He also served in the Joint Special Operations Task Force in Afghanistan. Jason is a leader who has always put selfless service above politics and isn't afraid to fight for what's right. He is a strong supporter of JAC's issues.

 

Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester
DE-AL
The first woman and person of color sent to Congress to represent Delaware in Congress, Lisa Blunt Rochester brought her years of problem-solving and advocacy with her to address issues important to JAC. Her background includes working for then-Rep. Tom Carper as a case worker, serving in the cabinets of 2 DE governors as Secretary of Labor, and Deputy Secretary of Health & Human Services, and State Personnel Director.   
Rep. Stephanie Murphy

As the recipient of the Secretary of Defense Medal for Exceptional Civilian Service, Representative Stephanie Murphy has been extremely influential in National Security and Armed Services policy.  Not only is Stephanie a key supporter of Israel and maintaining its qualitative military edge, but she has dedicated part of her career to promoting safe access to reproductive care and the DOJ Violence Against Women Act programs. Rep. Val Demings

Representative Val Demings has been a strong advocate for Israel and Choice in her short time in Congress. As the first ever African American to serve as Chief of the Orlando Police Department, Val led a 40% drop in violent crime and has been an advocate for police safety, including gun safety, making her one of Florida’s foremost gun control advocates in congress. Rep. Charlie Crist

Representative Charlie Crist, former governor of the state of Florida, left the Republican party in 2010 because it was no longer consistent with his core beliefs. An investigative journalist who has spent the last three decades exposing corruption, uncovering the truth, and taking on powerful people and corporations, Alan Cohn is running for U.S. Congress to represent Florida's 15th District. His wide-ranging enterprise reporting has exposed police brutality coverups, environmental scandales, and corrupt politicians. Representative Ted Deutch has been a strong ally of JAC's during his time in Congress. He is an avid supporter of a strong U.S.-Israel relationship, and serves as Chair of the House Subcommittee on the Middle East & North Africa. He also serves on the Foreign Affairs, Judiciary, and Ethics committees. He is a fierce supporter of gunsense legislation, and believes strongly in a woman's right to make her own health decisions. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz

Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz has been one of JAC’s biggest allies throughout her time in Congress.  As a staunch supporter of the State of Israel, Debbie has been on the forefront of fighting for the rights of the Jewish State.  As a member of the Pro-Choice House Caucus, Debbie has also been a longtime defender of women’s reproductive freedom. Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell

Representative Debbie Mucarsel-Powell was elected in 2018 as the first Ecuadorian-American and first South American immigrant to Congress. Having lost her father to gun violence, she is a strong advocate for gun safety legislation. As a freshman in Congress, she serves on the House Judiciary, Transpporation & Infrastructure Committees. She is a fierce advocate for women's reproductive rights, earning a 100% rating from Planned Parenthood.

 

Rep. Donna Shalala

Representative Donna Shalala has been a leading figure in politics for over two decades. After serving as President Clinton's Secretary of Health for 8 years, she has spent her time working hard to ensure a bright future for the next generation of Americans. Her efforts include standing up for women's reproductive freedom and healthcare equality. Rep. Lucy McBath

Rep. Lucy McBath was elected to represent Georgia's 6th district in 2018, defeating incumbent GOP Rep. Karen Handel. She worked for 30 years as a flight attendant until her on, Jordan Davis, was shot and killed in what has become known as the "loud music shooting." Following his death, she devoted her lift to activism and preventing other families from experiencing what hers did. She is a fierce supporter of women's reproductive freedom and JAC's issues. Rep. Abby Finkenauer

Representative Abby Finkenauer has been a strong voice for JAC’s values ever since her election to Congress. She has continuously voted against gun bills that put innocent people in danger. Additionally, she has, and will always, vote no on bills that are hostile to abortion and women’s reproductive right. Rita Hart

Rita Hart is a life-long Iowan running for the seat of retiring Rep. Dave Loebsack, with Loebsack's backing. A former high school and junior high teacher, she was elected to the Iowa Senate in 202, where she was a champion for fully funding K-12 schools and expanding job training for IA workers. She and her family own a 200-acre corn and soybean farm. She is a strong proponent of JAC's issues, believing the U.S.-Israel relationship is vital to the national security interests of the U.S.

 

Rep. Cindy Axne
IA-3
Rep. Cindy Axne was elected to serve Iowas's 3rd district in 2018. She is a small business owner, parent, community activist and 5th generation Iowan. She is a supporter of JAC's issues and a strong advocate in Congress. She is committed to working with all Congressional colleagues toward bipartisan solutions for the many issues facing our country and her district. She is a strong supporter of Planned Parenthood and believes that Washington politicians should stay out of women's doctors' offices.

 

Rep. Robin Kelly

Representative Robin Kelly has been an activist her whole life, beginning her career fighting for social and economic justice, her main focus was eradicating urban food deserts in the state of Illinois.  Now, as a Representative, Robin has pushed for the same agendas, including standing up to the NRA, fighting for women’s reproductive health through staunch support of the ACA, and working to strengthen relations between the U.S. and Israel. Rep. Mike Quigley

Representative Mike Quigley began his career in politics to help the environment, but soon found that there were significantly more issues that he was passionate about.  Quigley is not only a strong advocate for Women’s Reproductive health, as well as a trusted ally to Israel, but he is one of Illinois foremost politicians fighting for sensible gun control.  Quigley has introduced legislation to end family separation at the border and election security.  Click here for more about Mike Quigley.
 

 

Rep. Sean Casten

Representative Casten is a respected scientist, clean energy advocate, and entrepreneur who has dedicated his career to building businesses that reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Casten ran for Illinois’s 6th congressional district after criticizing both President Trump and his Republican opponent’s environmental policies that put millions of people’s lives and health at risk. Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi

Representative Krishnamoorthi is dedicated to women’s reproductive freedom, seeing it as one of his key issues in supporting the disappearing middle class America.  Raja is dedicated to supporting the strong U.S. relationship with Israel, seeing it as key to national security.  Raja has also been a strong advocate for clean and renewable defense technology, starting his own non-profit, InSPIRE, that provides training on solar technology. Rep. Jan Schakowsky

Representative Jan Schakowsky has been one of JAC’s greatest allies throughout her time in Congress.  As the daughter of Jewish immigrants, Jan has staunchly supported Israel and has been a key pro-choice ally, supporting an end to Hyde Amendment restrictions.  Jan’s top priority has been quality affordable healthcare for all Americans. Representative Cheri Bustos is a Sports Hall of Fame inducted basketball and volleyball player, meaning she knows the value of teamwork. Prior to her election to Congress, she was a journalist who wrote numerous stories on corruption and greed in government and has worked to push back against incidents while in office. Cheri has been an advocate for progressive policy backed up by bi-partisan support, understanding the value of reaching across the aisle.  Cheri is a strong advocate for Israel and fighting for women’s healthcare is one of her top priorities. Rep. Sharice Davids

Representative Sharice Davids is a strong advocate for women’s reproductive health and justice. She is supported by NARAL pro choice America and EMILY’s list. Davids is cosponsoring a bill opposing the delegitimization of Israel through the BDS movement, and is going on a trip to Israel in August 2019. Sharice Davids is one of two Native American women to be elected to the House of Representatives, as well as Kansas’s first gay representative in the House who is committed fighting for the rights of the LGBTQ community.

Before being elected to Congress, Rep. Golden was a Representative in the Maine House, and was chosen by his peers to serve as Democratic Assistance Majority Leader. After the September 11 attacks he enlisted in the Marine Corp and served tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. He is a strong supporter of JAC's issues and is committed to protecting voting rights, the environment, health care, and more. 

 

Rep. Jamie Raskin

Representative Jamie Raskin is one of congress’s strongest supporters of the separation of religion and state noting that those in government swear an allegiance to the constitution, not to the bible.  Jamie has fought for women to be able to make their own health care decisions, earning him a 100% rating from Planned Parenthood. Rep. Elissa Slotkin

Prior to her election to the house, Elissa Slotkin spent her career in Defense, working as Assistant Defense Secretary from 2015-2017 following a 5-year career in the CIA.  In that time Elissa gained experience facilitating Israeli defense policy, reaffirming her support for Israel.  Elissa even worked as a writer for a feminist center in Haifa, which reaffirmed her commitment to women’s reproductive rights and gained her an endorsement by Emily’s List. Representative Andy Levin took over his seat following the retirement of his father, Michigan congressman Sandy Levin. Raised in a Jewish family, he has always cared deeply about Israel. He is the president of his synagogue, and will take these passions for the Israeli state to Capitol Hill. He is a strong defender against the Trump administration’s attacks against women’s reproductive rights.

 

Rep. Haley Stevens

Born and raised in the Detroit area, Rep. Stevens was elected to Congress in 2018 to represent Michigan's 11th district. During the Great Recession, she served as chief of staff on the Auto Rescue, which helped return the auto industry to financial stability. After working in the Obama Administration, she worked in a manufacturing research lab. She is a strong proponent of JAC's issues, working to protect women's reproductive rights and more.

 

Rep. Debbie Dingell

Representative Debbie Dingell’s family has years of experience with congresspeople, her husband being former Congressman John Dingell, Jr., but Debbie’s had amazing congressional success in her own right, sponsoring a variety of legislation.  Debbie is a staunch supporter of Israel and an even bigger supporter of women’s reproductive freedom, founding the National Women’s Health Resource Center. Rep. Angie Craig

Elected to Congress in 2018, Angie Craig began her career as a newspaper reporter, and later worked her way up over 20 years to lead a Minnesota manufacturer with over 16,000 employees. There she started 'Women in Business' program to support and mentor women in their career choices. She believes no one should come between a woman and her doctor when making medical decisions, including contraception and reproductive freedom. She is a strong supporter of JAC's issues.

 

Jill Schupp

State Sen. Jill Schupp is running to represent IA-2. A former elementary school teacher and later working at an advertising agency, she was elected in 2014 to IA State Senate. She believes that when we identify the vision, we can work to prioritze ow our policies and resources can work for what we value as a community, state, and nation. Amy Kennedy

An educator by training, Amy has more than a decade of experience working in public schools in New Jersey. Her experiences as a teacher and as a mother of five propels her efforts and advocacy around social-emotional learning and mental wellness for children and adolescents. Amy is running against an incumbent that was elected as a Democrat but switched parties when he refused to vote for Trump’s impeachment. Amy is battling for victory in a district that Trump won by five points. This is a critical race for the Dems to expand their majority in the House.

Representing the largest non-at-large district in the country, a district bigger than the state of Florida, Rep. Torres Small began her public service working for Sen. Tom Udall as his first field representative in southern New Mexico. Susie Lee  has been a committed community leader in Las Vegas for the past 20 years. She has served as the president of Communities in Schools of Nevada (CIS), the leading organization for school dropout prevention. She is the Founding Director of After-School All-Stars and is dedicated to improving the public education system. A scientist, Nancy Goroff believes in science, using facts and evidence to solve problems and will take her experience to Washington, DC to represent Suffolk County. Rep. Max Rose was elected to represent Staten Island and Brooklyn in 2018. A former platoon leader in Afghanistan, he brings a dedication to working for the public to his role in Congress. He is a strong proponent of JAC's issues. Following his service in the Army, he worked at a nonprofit operator of medical clinics around New York. 

 

Rep. Antonio Delgado

Rep. Antonio Delgado was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2018. Prior to representing NY's 19th District, he was a lawyer who committed significant pro bono work toward criminal justice reform, and was a hip hop musician focused on empowering young people through music. He earned a Rhodes Scholarship while attending Colgate University and went on to Harvard Law School. He is committed to JAC's issues and a strong friend in Congress.

 

Rep. Anthony Brindisi

Bringing his bipartisan leadership to Congress in 2018, Rep. Brindisi has worked across the aisle to get things done, including have 4 bills signed into law. Prior to his election to Congress, he served in the NY State Assembly, where he earned a reputation for principled bipartisanship. While in the Assembly he authored and passed his '21st Century Education Initiative' to create a diploma pathway for high school students. He is a strong supporter of JAC's issues.

 

Rep. Madeleine Dean

Rep. Madeleine Dean transitioned from State Representative to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2018. She brought with her a strong voice for JAC's values to Washington. She pledged her unequivocal support to women in the fight for reproductive rights. She also stands with Israel and vows to vote for legislation that secures the safety of Israel. Rep. Mary Gay Scanlon

Elected to Congress in 2018, Rep. Mary Gay Scanlon, a former attorney, understands the importance of legal precedence. She has cited many important landmark Supreme Court cases to support JAC’s core ideals of protecting women’s reproductive rights and the separation of church and state. She vows to continue the fight for those rights in Washington D.C. 

 

Rep. Chrissy Houlahan

Elected to Congress in 2018, Rep. Chrissy Houlahan is a former Air Force officer and daughter of a Holocaust survivor, whose ideals align with JAC’s core beliefs and make her a poowerful voice in Washington. Her cousin-in law was one of the EMTs responding to the Sandy Hook tragedy, so she has a personal connection to the gun violence epidemic. Rep. Susan Wild

Rep. Susan Wild received her B.A. from American University and her J.D. from George Washington University, and went on to work as an attorney. She supports a strong U.S.- Israel relationship, and a two-state solution. She also is committed to fighting for a woman’s right to choose. In addition to her support for women’s rights, and for Israel, she would like to see change regarding the gun violence plaguing our nation. Representative David Cicilline was the first openly gay mayor of a U.S. State Capital, breaking major barriers for the LGBTQ+ community. David has since been a advocate for progressive civil rights policy and the “Make It In America” agenda, encouraging American made goods. Cicilline was a founding member of Mayors Against Illegal guns with NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg and is staunchly pro-choice and pro-Israel.

A native of Houston, Lizzie Fletcher began her career in law in 2006. Her work led to recognition as on of the Best Lawyers in America. A co-founder of Planned Parenthood Young Leaders, she helped recruit a new generation of leaders to fight for reproductive rights. She has also worked to dismantle the school-to-prison pipeline, and help young people find their voices through dance and writing. She is a strong advocate for JAC's issues.

Representative Joaquin Castro is proud to be part of a new class of Latino leaders emerging across the country, being named one of the top 50 politicians to watch in the U.S. He feels that he is truly representative of the American dream, as a second generation American. Joaquin wants to continue this legacy building what he calls the Infrastructure of Opportunity, focusing on the American school system and healthcare system. Gina Ortiz Jones is a former member of the Air Force who was deployed to Iraq. She is running to represent San Antonio in Congress. She ran for this seat in 2018, but was narrowly defeated by Rep. William Hurd (R-TX), who is not running for reelection. She was the director for investment at the Office of U.S. Trade Representative and as senior advisor for trade enforcement. She is a strong supporter of women's reproductive rights.

 

Rep. Colin Allred

Rep. Colin Allred flipped a north Texas district blue in the last election. As a successful civil rights lawyer, he understands the importance of a fight for rights in such a divided time. He stands by Planned Parenthood, and swears to combat violence against women. He also promises to help protect the U.S. – Israel relationship from outside threats, such as Iran. Domestically, he wants to protect our everyday life from the threat of gun violence.  

 

Rep. Elaine Luria

Rep. Elaine Luria served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years and reached the rank of commander. After retiring from the military in 2017, she founded an arts and crafts business. Elaine uses her experience in the Navy and as a small-business owner to protect our country and create an economy that works for everyone – not just those at the top.  She is a pro-choice champion committed to expanding access to affordable, quality health care. Rep. Abigail Spanberger

Rep. Abigail Spanberger is former CIA operative who brings a special viewpoint to politics. As a former federal agent, she carried a gun with her to work.
